Mark specialises in the resolution of disputes and advising on contentious and non-contentious regulatory matters. He has been based in Hong Kong for a total of 35 years. He has advised many of the world's leading corporations and institutions, as well as prominent individuals. His broad ranging experience includes advising:

  • parties in shareholders and joint venture disputes
  • corporates and directors on corporate governance issues
  • bidders in contested bids for companies
  • sellers of a business for negligent misstatement by the purchaser's financial adviser
  • parties to derivative contracts
  • holders of preferred shares seeking redemption
  • companies and individuals on the enforcement of restrictive covenants
  • companies on handling frauds and recovery of misappropriated funds and assets
  • purchasers under supply contracts
  • corporates on the conduct of internal investigations and corporates and directors on their response to regulatory investigations
  • regulators on their conduct of investigations and consultations including defending judicial review challenges to their decisions

These matters frequently involved clients and subject matters in Europe, USA and other parts of Asia. His experience spans the use of court and arbitration proceedings and mediations.

Prior to joining GPS, he was a partner of Conyers from 2021-2025 and Head of its Hong Kong Disputes and Restructuring Team. From 2010 to 2021 he was a Partner of Eversheds Sutherland and Head of its Asia Dispute Management practice. From 1993 to 2010 he was a partner of Slaughter and May and led its Hong Kong litigation practice.
